Extension rules
Extension type: Automatic with Federal · 740-EXT
Taxpayers who request a federal extension are not required to file a separate Kentucky extension, unless an amount is due with the extension.
Even if you file an extension (usually by submitting a federal extension or requesting Kentucky’s extension), your payment is still due by the original deadline (typically April 15). That means you’re expected to estimate how much you owe and pay it by that date.
